We have given up on Kilby this year. The bad weather, high tide and mosquitoes  have forced us to check out some of the other lakes and possible swimming holes for our dear Miss Lucy.  We decided to check out Stave Lake  and stumbled upon Hayward Lake instead. Some assembly required! Our landlord decided that a very large  tree (well over 15 feet) in front of our building was unsafe and needed removal. He asked us all to move our cars last Thursday morning because he was having a crew come to take it down. at 90!This lovely lady and I have known each other for most of my life. I have just finished the Millenium series by Stieg Larsen. These books are very violent especially towards women and not usually my style of books. However they are very cleverly written and capture your attention in a way that few authors have the skill to do. A family of Hooded Mergansers have taken over the pond at Foreshore Park. It has been such a hot August. Some days have been unbearable here in the city and while Fred and I suffer, poor Miss Lucy with her heavy black coat is positively dying in the heat. Sunday was the annual Gay Pride Parade in Vancouver. About four years ago someone took me to this parade and I have been attending or walking in it every since. The Pride parade seems to bring out the crazy in the city. People get dressed up in wild costumes and like the person in this picture dress in as little as possible. They have water fights in the streets, wave pride flags and dance.
