The Paralympics are here!

Sledge Hockey
Where on earth does the time go? It seems like yesterday that I was battling my way through throngs of red clad, boozed up Canadians partying on the streets of Vancouver. Now it is two weeks later and the Paralympics are on and  we are watching these very deserving  athletes compete in incredible games for their medals. Every time I watch one of these events I am awed by the sheer determination of some of these athletes. Most days I find it hard enough to get out of bed and walk Lucy let alone train for hours on end with a disability to overcome. I salute each and every one of them and wish them well.
The weather in Vancouver throughout the Olympics has been fantastic.  I heard on the radio the other day that this is the warmest and driest winter on record for sixty three years!! Can you believe it? Here we are hosting the winter games and we have Spring like weather. Some days it has been warm enough to leave the coat at home. This past week however the weather changed. We had sleet and pounding rain down here and new snow on the mountains. This is how it looked on Friday.
At least the Paralympic visitors will get a taste of a Vancouver winter.
