That Must Be Some Powerful MSG!!

Ancient soup found in China

A Chinese Archeological group has discovered a pot of bone soup near the site of China's terracotta army in Xian.

The soup was judged to be at least 2,400 years old.

It was still liquid, but not edible.

Hmmm.... makes one wonder about the digestibility of that Chinese smorgasbord!

Statements that ancient foods and drinks are no longer fit for consumption always cause me to smile: how do they know? did someone try it?

It would be interesting to know why it is still liquid. What prevented it from drying out naturally? Or has something caused it to become liquid again?

And what soup was it: how long before some restaurant reconstructs it and puts it on the menu? 2,400-year-old soup certainly knocks hundred-year-old eggs into a cocked hat!

  2. I've got a co-worker who would probably try it. He eats anything.

  3. That is wild!

    I think "edibility" is subjective.

  4. wow - that's amazing ... it was still liquid? very strange, but cool
