The wind has been a blessing and a curse on the west coast this year. In February, we had flooding on the Dikes in Delta because of the high winds and torrential rains. Several times the power was out in large areas and we ourselves experienced a cold day listening to the wind howl around our house while we waited for the power crews to fix the lines. This past weekend we experienced another kind of wind - the winds of Spring. Lucy and I went to the dikes at the end of number 4 road and walked all the way into Steveson or maybe I should say the wind pushed us all the way to Steveson. As you can see from the picture Lucy is getting a birds eye look at what is causing her ears to flap around and my unbound hair to fly in my face continually. Winter winds make me want to hunker down under a warm blanket while the spring winds always fill me with anticipation of all the good things to come. You know flowers and bees and sunshine and sand and the beach and hot dogs and steak on the barbeque. Gone the dark of winter! Finally the bears are coming out of hibernation, the squirrels and birds are making nests, the frogs are beginning to sing their song and Lucy and I are treking to the parks, trails and beaches once again.
