HUH? Our Strange English Language


 

  1. He could lead if he could get the lead out.
  2.  The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.
  3. Since there is not time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present. 
  4. A bass was painted on the head of a bass drum. 
  5. When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes. 
  6. I did not object to the object. 
  7. The insurance was invalid for the invalid. 
  8. There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.
  9. They were too close to the door to close it. 
  10. The buck does funny things when the does are present.

  1. Oh the dessert/desert one always gets me. Same with message/massage. Can't tell you how many times I've written a note telling people I have a massage for them. Boy are they disappointed.
