CBC yesterday had an article about British "eggers". Apparently there are a group of men in England whose sole passion in life is stalking birds nests and stealing their eggs to add to their collection. CBC describes them as "compulsive collectors who trawl the countryside hunting for wild bird eggs." The article goes on to say that there are hundreds of British men "whose all-consuming hobby is stalking wild birds, raiding their nests, and keeping the eggs in elaborate, secret collections."
Have these guys never heard of hockey? soccer? How about video games?

ok, this is hysterical! I used to watch a British Mystery show on BBC American called Midsommer. One of the episodes was about this very thing! How weird is that? and yes, one of the "eggers" was murdered for one particular egg!

ReplyDeletewell, I gotta get out and mix more with my fellow Brit, because I've not come across this!
ReplyDeletemomofk9s - Yep I thought it was pretty funny myself. And more than a little weird. But who am I to judge a man and his hobbies?

Frances - Honestly I was concerned for your safety when I read this article! You have a bunch of flipping nuts running around out there with the birds! The article said that the use "military prescion to stalk these nests" ! Then they hide them in a secret place?!?!
