This is an old picture, but one of my favorites. This baby seal was on the shore in Sechelt, BC. Take a look at all the other Camera Critter postings at Camera Critters.
It is definitely an appealing little creature and well captured. There is something especially attractive about seals. Perhaps it is their big, intelligent eyes.
They are very curious too. Once when we were driving in Scotland, I spotted a seal in a sea loch we were passing, so we got out to look. The seal turned towards us and watched us. Then another head appeared; and another and another, until the loch was dotted with heads, all looking in our direction.
Whenever we see animals, Tigger says to me "I bet you'd like to take him home, eh?" I would, yes. Don't worry, though: I don't. Just as well, or our house would be like Noah's Ark; no, it would be better than that, because there would be more than two of everything!
Hi Silvertiger - seals have always fascinated me. I have never seen one this close before in the wild and I was delighted. I think they are very interesting animals. Sadly the fishermen here shoot them and club them blaming them for the diminishing salmon stocks.
What a gorgeous shot!
