HAPPY DIWALI TO ALL MY SOUTH ASIAN FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS!Today is the start of the South Asian festival Diwali. Diwali means "rows of lighted lamps" and is often referred to as the Festival of Lights.
I live in a multi-cultural neighborhood and all around me lights will be lit and fireworks will be going off tonight in celebration. The celebration is very important and equal in importance to Christmas for Christians. The holiday falls on a different date in some parts of India, but is always celebrated in the months of October or November.
